Wi-Fi
The main advantage of Wi-Fi is that data transfer takes place without wires, through the air, using invisible radio waves.
The technology only creates a local network in which different devices (laptops, printers, smartphones) can exchange data without going online. And only when connecting to a provider (via router, modem, access point) devices of this network get access to the Internet. The number of connected devices is limited by the technical parameters of the router. Speed will depend on the number of connected devices, their distance from the router and its location.
Mobile Internet
Typically, Internet users choose this type of connection if there is no technical possibility to connect the Internet via cable or no desire to purchase additional services. The main disadvantages of mobile Internet are the high cost of tariffs, and the speeds are low, they are hundreds of times lower than for wired connection. The advantage is a good coverage of the territory by mobile operators and no ties to the location, although the signal can be unstable depending on the area.
Satellite Internet
The most expensive of all connection options. Not suitable for those who like to play online games, as a very high ping (250 ms or higher). You need to buy expensive equipment for the organization which you can’t install by yourself. Usually satellite Internet is chosen as a last resort, if other options are not possible. Satellite Internet is often connected in remote areas where you can’t run fiber optic or even connect a mobile Internet connection.
Radio Internet
To set up a radio Internet connection you additionally need an antenna and a wireless access point provided by your provider. The antenna should be placed on an elevated position (pole, roof) and its horn should be aimed precisely at the signal source. Range of operation is up to 50 km.
Similarly to the satellite type of connection this variant is used only as a last resort. The cost of equipment is high, and natural phenomena can cause interference. Nevertheless, this option has an excellent access speed – up to 1 Gbps.
